Can any of us really know the full impact of our actions in this life? Can anyone truly measure the value of a gentle word or a kind gesture? Like a pebble dropped in the water, the ripples of our lives will spread far beyond the immediate effect we are able to see. Take for example this good report.
Many times we find we are able to minister to someone spiritually after meeting their immediate physical need. A body that is hungry has a closed heart, but a body that is fed has an open heart. We see this happen every day and we understand better the following scripture in James:
‘If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?’ James 2:15-16 NKJV
